The list of terrible alternative songs are so extensive, you would think you’re looking at a track list from “Rock Band”. Iggy Pop, Bush, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Sublime!!!! I mean the list of crappy songs go on & on. Whoever signed off on this, track list, (Brian Bright), should be FIRED!
Brian Bright, project director for the game, is a fool and a clown if he thinks this track list is going gain any sales numbers. Pay attention Brian and watch the numbers for GH5 fall faster than last years economy.

Yes! Hero Band 2 has arrived. All you little kiddies wanted to be a guitar hero, where the game is based around the title, the guitarist, but you got more than that! You can be more than just a simple guitar player, you can play the whole band! So, take the high quality of the guitar play in guitar hero III, divide it into 4 (guitar, base, drums, and singer) and you have this game. A quarter of the quality of GH III.

I reviewed previous GH and RB games – I’m fluent in plastic guitar – as lame as that is. I had high hopes for this; look at the setlist! How can you @#%^ the bed with bands like Bush, Rammstein, Dire Strait!?
Well evidently you can. The songs are BORING! They picked some really good bands but the most mediocre tracks! And one big question:
Just why exactly is Stevie Wonder – Superstition on this game? What about a SAXAPHONE SOLO has ANYTHING to do with a guitar!?
The sole redeeming quality on this disasterpiece was the ability for both myself and fiance to play the guitar parts in co-op.
Bottom line – this game is garbage. If you didn’t give up during World Tour then rent it. RENT IT. Don’t flat out buy it. Go buy GH – Metallica instead, that one at least captures the fun and spirit of Guitar Hero as we all once knew it.
I could go on but the four letter words bursting at my fingertips will get this review taken down – take the hint already. Stop reading and find another game to play.
10/21/2009 – Gave it another rent thinking I had made a knee jerk reaction. Not the case. This game is the worst of the GH series.

Even though this is called GUITAR hero, the vocals are part of this game, but apparently the developers didn’t realize that. I normally prefer the vocal part of the game over the guitar, bass or drums after all the melody is the heart and soul of the song.
In Guitar Hero 5 the vocals are so very badly done, so I am not able to enjoy this game as I have others of this genre. Often the game wants you to sing in an incorrect key and I have actually failed the song by singing it correctly when the game wants you to sing it wrong. If you try to do what the game wants you to do then you have to try to follow the pointer which is very small and even disappears often while you try to follow the line so it is nearly impossible and extremely frustrating. Clearly the developers do not actually intend for you to sing.
Now I know this part of the game is just a tacked on feature only added to compete with Rock Band, but it’s still a part of the game and the developers should take it more seriously than they do. If you notice all the other reviews do not mention the vocals, but if they did they would have to knock points off for them without a doubt. I guess this is why you can now play 4 guitars at once and you aren’t really ever supposed to try the vocals.

I’ve played GH2, GH3, GH:WT, Rock Band and Rock Band 2 and this new game is just “blah”. None of the songs grab my attention while playing. Several songs looked like they’d be cool to play but actually playing them is a disappointment. Working my way through career mode was tedious, the song selection seemed secondary to the band selection. It’s as though they went out of their way to pick a song from a great artist that wasn’t catchy at all, this must have involved quite some effort!
If you enjoy listening to “deep tracks” I think you’ll enjoy this game more than I did. I just want to pick up the controller, jump up and down and have a good time. I’ll be selling my copy.
