HD DVD! Are you kidding me? Blu-ray is supported by 7 of 8 studios and many player manufacturers (e.g., samsung, LG, etc.). HD DVD is on its last legs and what short legs they’ve been.

I believe after the holidays, the new format winner will be declared — Blu-ray! Sorry Toshiba but giving away the players does nothing for the movie support/availability. Also, Sony is selling Playstation 3 for $400 and it is a blu-ray player too! Movies in Blu-ray looking amazing, of course, but to my surprise, even my old DVDs take on a new life with the PS3′s ability to perform “up conversion.” Did I mention it has a 40gb hard drive, surfs the inetrnet from my TV, stores music and videos, and is the world’s best video game system. Until now, it was not a great video game system because there were few games avaliable that were good — this has NOW changed — many great games are out or coming out soon this holiday. Good bye Xbox too!

I’m no huge fan of Sony but I am objective. I’ve been on the sidelines for awile but did my research and waited…once Sony lowered the PS3 to $400, it was a no brainer. It was cheaper than a Blu-ray player alone which Sony was selling for $500.

  2. does anyone knows if this xbox has the new 65nm cpu? Because if it has the new one it would be great. It would make a easier buy for anyone.

I already have one but I would like to buy the new one with the new cpu.

    Update 18-10-2007

Ok this xbox has no problems at all, I put some serious test on it and until now It seems that it does not overheat, the only problem it has is the power brick that came with it, is a cheap one so you should buy another one for it, also I let my xbox running for about 2 days without turning it off and It didn’t overheat, considering that I’m my country the average temperature in the day is 30Cº or more 100% humidity . Also for extra security buy an intercooler for extra cooling or fan stand so the overheating problems will disappear. Right now I’m happy with it so I really recommend this unit for anyone who wants to buy an xbox 360.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! MY son wanted this very badly and couldn’t wait for it to come. We had read many of the negative reviews but of course didn’t believe that any of the problems would happen to us. WRONG! Less than 24 hours after owning this product, it would no longer recognize discs. 4 customer service calls later (after being disconnected 2 times) and we’re waiting for the box to send this brand new $400 WASTE OF MONEY for repair. We have since spoken to several people who have had nothing but problems with this. BUY a NINTENDO system instead. We have Gamecube and Wii and have NEVER had an ounce of problems. I guess game systems are like cars…only the Japanese seem to make them right!

After a year, your unit will flash two rings indicating that it is overheating. Your warranty will be up and Microsoft will want to charge you $150.00 to repair it. The Microsoft Xbox support staff will listen to your concerns and will not help you because they have all been lobotomized by Bill Gates. Don’t buy it, you’ll be sorry.

  5. I went to gamespot to purchase one of these halo edition 360′s. They look cool and my old xbox 360 finally died. microsoft balked on the warrenty and wont repair it. I was surprised to find that MS tech support are complete idiots. If you call them you will see exactly what I mean. Im over that now.

I was looking for HDMI and the new falcon chipset. At Gamestop, All the halo versions were the original 203watt power supplies (no way am I buying another known piece of junk). also. i cant believe they sell a halo edition xbox and doesn’t even come with a halo game. Thats rich. Instead you get forza motorsports and a stupid spiderman game?? basically more Junk to sell on ebay.

Forget the halo edition, For the extra $50 bucks (I got straight cash and plenty of it) get the elite. You get 120gig HD which is overkill and totally unecessary, HDMI and the newer falcon chip wich runs at a cooler and quieter 175watts. This unit also covered by MS 3 year warrenty.

I hope this one last longer then a year. FYI: any xbox you buy, your pretty much getting ripped off and screwed. I should have bought the PS3 to begin but sony and wii dont have all the phat games either.
